American Styk Longbow

The American Styk is an American Semi -Longbow (ASL) sometimes better known as a Hill-Style Bow. 

The ASL is a basic grassroots kind of bow.  This bow commands you take hold of it and drive the arrow where you want it to go. Take hold of this bow and you take hold of a deep part of archery history.

The American Styk is a String Follow ASL.  It is available in lengths of 66" and 68". The grip can be done in a standard straight grip,  dished grip or low wrist locator grip.   

You will find the American Styk to be incredibly forgiving, the arrow always seems to go where you are looking, even if conditions aren't perfect. It is also dead in the hand and very quiet.  All of these features make this bow an ideal hunting bow.

 A standard American Styk will be made with colored glass of your choice on the back and belly, a beautiful Osage riser and 4 layers of bamboo for the cores, giving it a silky smooth draw cycle, great cast and unmatched  arrow speeds.  This bow throws an arrow with great cast and its performance excels with heavy arrows. All American Styk's will come standard with a leather grip and reinforced tips, built with tip wedges, to allow for use of modern sting materials.  All bows shipped with a D-97 string with wool silencers & double adjustable tie nocks. 

Add the Yukon Take-Down System and this bow screams take me to Alaska, put me on a float plane and lets go on an adventure!

G-10 is also an option and allows me to cut the shelf to center, which provides a large window of tune and makes the bow very forgiving. G-10 also adds a significant amount of mass.

The American Styk starts at $850 and can be upgraded to clear glass for an additional $100 and add beautiful veneers for the veneer price, which can be found on the Wood Options page.

***G-10 risers (whether in a 1 pc or take-down) allow me to cut the shelf to center.   If you choose a G-10 riser cutting to center will be standard, however you can choose to leave it 5/32" outside center like a wood riser if you wish.***

Cutting to center drastically opens up your window of tune making the bow much more forgiving of any form flaws or variations.

Draw Weight Tolerance

I do a very good job at hitting draw weight but in order to achieve optimum performance please allow plus or minus 1# of your requested draw weight.  Most often I will hit the weight you request but grinding down to the desired weight, as some others do, is not ideal.  It hinders performance and can hurt the integrity of the bow.  Thus my policy is that if I miss weight by more than 1# I rebuild the bow  and hit the weight you requested .  Example:  if you order a bow 45# @ 28", please allow 44#-46#.
